  1. Pi Approximation Day is annually observed on 22 July (22/7 in the day/month date format), since the fraction 22⁄7 is a common approximation of π, which is accurate to two decimal places and dates from Archimedes. It is celebrated to honour the importance of the concept of Pi in calculations.
  2. World Brain Day, also known as International Brain Day, is a worldwide healthcare event that annually celebrated on 22 July to raise awareness about brain health and neurological disorders. The theme for World Brain Day 2023 is “Brain Health and Disability: Leave No One Behind.”.
  3. National Flag Adoption Day is annually observed across India on 22 July to commemorate the day on which the Constituent Assembly adopted the tricolor flag, in its present form, as the National Flag of India in 1947.
  4. Indian Railway has taken an effective initiative to provide the passengers of the general coaches with the economic meal at an affordable price of Rs.20 and snacks would cost Rs.50 with glasses of water of 200ml at affordable prices.
  5. Anshuman Jhingran, a 18-year-old open water swimmer from Navi Mumbai, has achieved a remarkable milestone by becoming the youngest person ever to cross the North Channel.
  6. In the latest FIFA Men’s World Rankings update published on 20 July 2023, India has been ranked 99th, showing progress in international football.
  7. DD Sports has partnered with 1Stadia to broadcast the highly anticipated 9th edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
  8. Mumbai has been ranked as the Best Indian City for students in the QS (Quacquarelli Symonds) Best Student Cities 2024 ranking but its global ranking dropped to 118.
  9. To set up a ‘Satellite Network Portal Site’, a first for India at Mehsana in Gujarat, the Gujarat Government through its Department of Science and Technology (DST) signed a Memorandum of Understanding on 19 July 2023, with London-Based Company, OneWeb.
  10. The Uttar Pradesh State Government has appointed Arvind Kumar, a retired IAS officer and advisor to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the new Chairman of Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (UPERC).
  11. In a significant gesture of cultural repatriation, the United States handed over 105 trafficked antiquities to India during a repatriation ceremony at the Indian Consulate in New York.

  16. On 21 July 2023, legendary American pop and jazz singer and recipient of 19 Grammy awards, Tony Bennett (Anthony Dominick Benedetto) passed away at the age of 96.
